Vacationing in Bath Like a Local
Hopefully everyone is in the midst of planning a summer getaway and hopefully, your getaway brings you to Bath Maine! We are always looking for ways to help our guests have the best experience possible and this article, How to Vacation Like a Local, Even When You’re a Tourist, has some great tips. First off though – skip the AirBnB tip and book directly with a licensed bed and breakfast preferably us. This helps support small businesses and the local economy and gives you the peace of mind of staying at a licensed establishment. Now let’s plan the rest of your Bath stay using these ideas!
Enjoy your picnic on our patio.
There are things going on in Bath every day of the week not just weekends so any day is a good day for a visit. Think outdoor concerts, open mic nights, local theater, uncrowded hiking trails and beaches and restaurants where you don’t have an hour wait! We have a Farmers Market every Saturday morning for you to explore and some great grocery/specialty food stores in our downtown. Dream of picking up fresh fruit at the Farmers’ Market, a loaf of bread at Bath Natural Market and a bottle of wine at Now You’re Cooking. The perfect picnic to enjoy on our patio or at the local park while you listen to live music. Want to just relax and take a break after some sightseeing? Cafe Creme at the corner of Front and Centre Streets is a perfect spot for an afternoon latte or a pour over coffee and an in house baked pastry.
Getting around town is easy – downtown is walking distance from the B&B but Bath also has a great trolley service during the summer and fall months. Hop on the trolley to get to the Maine Maritime Museum or just to ride around town and look at the beautiful architecture. Or grab the bikes we have available for our guests and pedal around the quiet neighborhoods and streets of Bath. Are you an early riser? Perfect time to take a run – work off last night’s lobster dinner, watch the sun rise over the Kennebec and lose yourself in the beauty of the area.
Spirit of the Sea
We have two beautiful parks in the downtown area – Waterfront Park where you can watch the boats while you relax in one of the comfortable Adirondack chairs or City Park where you can sit and enjoy the sounds of the Spirit of the Sea. Just outside of downtown, hike the trails at Thorne Head Nature Preserve or Butler Head Preserve. Head a little further out of town to Popham Beach in Phippsburg or Reid State Park in Georgetown – getting out of town just like we locals do sometimes.
Just a tentative plan for your visit to help you get a jump on planning your getaway. We look forward to seeing you soon.
