Past and Future

I have been thinking a lot about the past. My buddy, Lupi, would have celebrated his 14th birthday on Saturday. It was a sunny day and I spent it in the garden thinking about how much he loved laying in the sunshine. Guests still ask about him on a regular basis so it makes me happy that his spirit and reputation continue on.

Piccolo Oste at 3 weeks

But time continues to march on and I have begun anticipating our new arrival at the B&B. Some of you already know but Amy and Mark are bringing home a new baby brother for me at the end of June! Our new furry family member will be Piccolo Oste which means Little Innkeeper in Italian! We will be calling him Picco. He is another Bergamasco Italian Sheepdog, of course, and we are all looking forward to meeting him and making him feel welcome. I will be showing him the ropes just as Lupi did for me all those years ago.

Quilting Group May 2017

We are all also anticipating the arrival of the busy season. We kicked off May in grand style (as we do every year) with a full house of quilters. This is a group of wonderful, fun women from Maine who come spend the weekend – shopping in Bath, quilting and filling the B&B with laughter. This year they started work on repairing Amy’s quilt from her childhood. It is in rough shape but they are lovingly making repairs. The best part about his group is they make a fuss over me!

We are also looking forward to the end of this rainy, chilly spring weather and to some sunshine and warmth. We are all anxious to get out in the garden and plant new things. With the forecast for warm temperatures this coming week the gardens will be exploding with color. I will try to remember to post some pictures if I don’t get too caught up in enjoying the sun! Amy and Mark will be making their annual trip to Moose Crossing Nursery to fill up on annuals and vegetable plants. They are also putting in seeds for vegetables and expanding the vegetable garden to offer more home grown produce for guests’ breakfasts.

So much happening in the next couple months! Hopefully I can add your visit to the B&B to that list. Just a reminder that summer dates are booking up so if you are planning on coming call us soon and reserve your room. I always look forward to greeting old friends and making new ones!
