It Is Not Your Grandma’s House

Feb 26, 2015 | Uncategorized

We get a lot of guests who are first time “B&Ber’s” and they are often surprised at the style of our B&B and the amenities available to them during their stay. No, when you stay with us it is not like staying at your grandmother’s house. Yes, the house is old (our addition was built in 1845) and there are antiques throughout but your stay will be comfortable and you feel pampered. The days of doilies on the furniture, lots of flowered wallpaper and ceramic figurines in every nook and cranny are over for most B&B’s. A NPR article from 2012 outlines how innkeepers are updating their B&B’s to attract younger visitors and expand their appeal. Online marketing, rooms with clean lines and accessible outlets, private bathrooms and free WiFi are becoming the norm instead of the exception. Granted their are some that want to retain that old charm of yesteryear and continue to do so but we think we have struck a good balance between appreciating the old and new side by side to ensure the most comfortable of stays. All our rooms have private baths, soft towels and eco-friendly shampoos and soaps. There is also a make-up/shaving mirror in each bath along with hairdryers, make up remover towelettes and shower caps. Rooms are equipped with good lighting, lamps on each side of the bed and the free WiFi is accessible in all rooms. The furniture is antique but not the beds to insure the best sleep for our guests. Guests also have access to four common rooms and an outdoor patio in season so they can spread out and relax.

So a stay with us gives you the best of both worlds – the old world charm of the historic home filled with antiques but enhanced with the amenities of the 21st century – combining to make your stay comfortable and memorable.
