Anticipating Spring

What a difference a year makes. Last year we were already cleaning up the gardens and the mulch was spread in early April. Today, as I stare out the doors to the patio, I still see snow on the garden, ice on the bricks and the thermometer is registering 35! Oh how I long for spring! This Mud Season, as we Mainers call it, can be a long and bleak time of year but as I look out I am also seeing some signs of brighter times. The snowdrops are blooming under the birch tree (Amy will be disappointed if I step on them again this year) and a couple daffodils are sprouting near the driveway where the

sun warms the earth well before the patio garden snow is melted. I hear Amy and Mark making plans for outside projects and the inside painting chores are almost complete – a sure sign that warmer, outside days are coming soon. My humans are also back from their annual end of winter getaway to a warmer climate and they are excited about some changes they are planning for the coming season to make our guests feel even more comfortable and pampered. When they go away to other B&B’s they always return with fresh ideas! I will fill you in more on these as they happen. But for now, as we are planning our spring projects and dreaming of warmer weather, you should start making your plans for your next visit to Maine – our summer dates are booking up so give Amy and Mark a call and start dreaming of your vacation with us!

Looking forward to seeing you soon!
